The High Priestess returns from a long slumber with good news... too bad Seattle is very far away. I don't know if you count this as confirmation but Sub Pop has this to say:

Hey Mike. Good to see you again - in that - never did see you and maybe never will see you - but i see you here, so cool beans baby

I'm putting money on the Sub PoP show as confirmed, but what i am NOT sure of is the possibility of a Chicago gig prior. The Hideout? Empty Bottle? We should find out soon i *think*

Damn - I was really excited about this at first. It's really freakin' exciting. But then I read about the location of the festival. No alcohol, glass, or smoking allowed on the premises. Sounds more like a picnic than a party.

I would travel far to see RRM, but this park location has turned me off the idea. I would not want to stay in such a place for two days. My loss.

I'm trying to imagine flying to Seattle, then buying whiskey, flasks, and duct tape.

You're right though, it's a lame excuse. Time will tell whether love or comfort will win. I really want to go.

Hey! I thought I'd move this notice from another part of the board, just so it appears in two places and people know what's up. It sorta belongs here in the "fingers" section. Check it out...Red Red Meat playing a Chicago warm up for the SubPop show:

I'm told Mr. Jim Becker will be opening the show with a set of his solo material, assisted by some good friends. I saw an earlier Jim Becker set that completely rocked in every way. Don't miss a chance to see some new and some old musics! I have committed to Tim that I will record the evening's performances in multi-track format, should he desire me to do so...

could you just tape the show as an ordinary aud tape as well and later put it up on some bit torrent side ??

that would be awfully nice....

It's a Hideout show, so the bar will record it anyway. They won't lift a finger to post the show anywhere. You'd have to get the recording from them, and they'll only release a copy to a band member.

I've done some great multi-track work at Hideout before though. Heard the Stones stuff? That started as 14 tracks and was mixed in the studio to a stereo pair. I was with Tim 2 weeks ago and he was quite pointed: if the rehearsals go well, he'll consider a quality recording, and the mix effort that goes behind it. Understandably, Tim prefers that material released by the label or the studio be QUALITY material, in both performance and recording. You folks that are fans expect that, and we all try to deliver. I won't do the job without approval from Tim. It's a lotta gear to schlep to the bar and set up...

Guerilla recorders might whip out a simple stereo job for a torent site, but there will be the regular "live bootleg" vibe to such a recording. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. Not my way though. I'll do it for real, or not at all, 'cause trying to massage a stereo file to make it what I want to hear is a complicated drag that I'd rather avoid...

The Perishable/Clava family's commitments to quality don't go unnoticed.

Thanks! As I said, we try hard. We like it to sound right, and we appreciate that the fans seem to have the same concept of "right" as us...

well i do understand all this.
.aiming for quality..
but then we will see a review of an official release once in a while..when was that last cd....... 2006 ??..
to keep the family healthy we need the crumbs as well...!!

thats what i appreciate about 2 track stereo recordings done on the spot... they are not done to take away from the bread of the band --- but to keep us busy ....while waiting....

Just curious, are there any remaining legal ties to SubPop that would complicate Perishable releasing the RRM gig?

i do not know about any "new" material.. but tim once stated that he is still hoping subpop would re release the RRM cds... possibly remastered and adding bonus stuff... from how he told me i gathered that there were plans about this as long as 2 years ago...

You'd better report back here with a review, then.

It sounds like 3 RRM records will be reissued on SubPop in the near future.

Just got home from the show, it was excellent, rocking fun! I took notes, have a set list and some comments on the band and the Hideout, which I will post sometime tomorrow. Good night and good morning to all...

That show was ridiculously good and fun. It was probably my favorite RRM "reunion" show I've seen and I think I've seen 3 now maybe 4. Tim and Co. seemed to really have the old RRM vibe dialed in and did some great renditions of all the hits. Mostly they stayed pretty true to the recordings with a few jams and improv sections. I think they pulled songs from Jimmywine, Bunny, and Star. Deck was killing it on drums. Also that bass part that Tim H. plays for Sulfur is all time.

Highlights for me were : Chinese Bombs (opener), Gauze, Braindead, Sulfer, Oxtail (encore set), and Idiot Son.

Great show guys. Any chance of more shows beyond the sub pop or possibly recordings?
